Geelong has that city by the beach feel… ya know? It’s big enough to have everything you want, plus it is graced with bay views.
As the days (and nights) get warmer, I love to hang out along the waterfront, soaking up the vibe (and getting sunburnt.. oops).
The waterfront is filled with so many sights and delights, as well as amazing eateries, you won’t go hungry or thirsty on your adventures.
1. Stop in at one of the many cafe’s and restaurants for some fresh masterchef creations.
The Warf Shed Cafe has been a long standing favourite of mine. Not only are you graced with a seasonally changing menu, you’re also blessed with ocean views, outdoor seating, and a cool breeze.
2. Wash it down with a coffee, or a Geelong brewed pale ale.
I am definitely not one to say no to a cold brew on a hot day! Especially when it involves one from Little Creatures. Brewed here in Geelong, you know it’s going to be a fresh keg sitting in the cellar.
3. Embrace your inner Captain Jack Sparrow
Geelong’s Beach is graced with the view of lots of money floating on the water. If you ever wanted to day dream of what it is like to own a yacht, take a stroll past the Geelong Yacht Club.
4. Take a spin on the Giant Sky Wheel
The Giant Sky Wheel adorns Geelong’s beach front over the summer period. Take a ride to see Geelong from a different perspective. It is also a great way to see the lights of Geelong at night!
5. Take a ride on the carousel
The kiddies will love this one. The carousel is always a favourite among the younger ones. For the adults, grab a coffee, and take a seat to soak up the view, and the atmosphere.
6. Visit the floating Christmas Tree
I love this tree. I think it’s a great idea and it always draws a crowd. Entering it’s third (I think) Christmas, this tree is one to be seen. Perfect selfie opportunity! Plus, there is music and lights.
7. Lace up your walking shoes
Western Beach, and Eastern Beach are definitely worth the visit, if you love to lace up your walking shoes. The board walk along eastern beach is a favourite for EVERYONE!
8. Waterfront at night
During the summer months, there are people out walking the waterfront, soaking up the warm air, and the gorgeous view. Don’t forget a jumper; the cool breeze can hit at any moment.
9. Admire the architecture; new and old
Geelong’s library has been lucky to receive a new facelift in the last year or so. I really love the new look! Also, don’t miss the old buildings; The wool museum is one many people flock to.
Where are your favourite places to visit, and things to do in Geelong?
